Persea americana ‘Day’ “Avocado”
Our ‘Day’ avocado is by far the easiest avocado to fruit in a pot. Plants will fruit at about 3 feet in height and will produce a medium-sized tapered-neck avocado that is easy to peel and has a delicious, buttery sweet taste. The fruit will hold on the plant for six months with ripening occurring from July to September. Another plus for ‘Day’ is its cold tolerance taking temperatures down into the low twenties. We sell grafted plants that will start bearing fruit in 2 to 3 years.
Hardy to Zone 9 and higher for outdoors.

As soon as the weather warms up a bit more I will transplant my tree into it's new home.

ReplyDeleteI was considering growing one when I first fell in love with avocado, but that didn't last long because I discovered I'm allergic--my only allergy! How weird is that?!?! I settled on citrus trees instead hehe.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was growing up our neighbor had a GIANT avocado tree that we'd snack from day and night. I miss them so! (Too cold where we're at now) ::pouts:: But wonderful for your little garden that you'll get a few a year. Truly there's nothing better. =)
Will it grow inside?

I was so glad to find your blog as I just purchased my first Brogdon Avocado to plant in honor of my grandson who's mom is hispanic and we eat lots of guacamole. I was wondering if I could put the tree in a big pot or if I needed to plant it in the ground. I live in St. Augustine, Florida and of course my soil is mainly sandy and we are a mile from the beach. How tall will the tree grow? It is about 3 and 1/2 any suggestions would be hepful. Thanks! fl.native.codym@gmail.com
