Lots of Photos

Sorry it has taken me so long to update my blog.

The greenhouse is down and all the seedlings have been planted. I still have some lettuce, beans and basil seeds to plant out into the empty squares.

Garden Tour

The first four photos were taken from the roof. Click on photos for a lager view.

Photo below: Bed 6.

Photos below: Columnar apple trees.

Photo below: Banana. I really hope I get fruit this year

Photo below: Nectarine tree. This is the first year I am seeing a little bit of leaf curl. I have never sprayed this tree but will need to start at the end of this year.

Photo below: Raspberries. I need to get a bigger container.

Photo below: Cucumbers.

Photo below: Purple broccoli. I hope to harvest my broccoli before it gets to warm. I planted these last November. They over wintered very well.

Photo below: The bell peppers are growing better now that they are in the beds.

Photo below: Early potatoes.

Photo below: Potato bins 1 and 2 are looking really good.

Photo below: Summer squash.

Photos below: Strawberries.

Photo below: Sweet potato slips. If you remember a few weeks ago I pulled one of the slips off the potato to root it in some soil. I'm happy to say it rooted. In fact the roots are coming out of the bottom of the container. I will pull two more slips off the potato this weekend and plant them in small containers. I hope to plant them out into bed 5 some time in May when the weather warms up a bit more.

In my next post I will give you a look at each bed and what is planted in them.

  1. Wow! You have an awesome mix of spring/summer plants! How in the world are you managing that?!?

Have you had apples from your columnar? I was considering getting two, but ended getting my citrus (but still want the apples!)...

  2. Dang....those potatoes are going bonkers!

  3. YES! FINALLY! Photos of my favorite garden, and it's looking as gorgeous as ever.

  4. Momma S - I have no idea how I'm managing it. I just plant and hope for the best. This being only my second year of vegetable gardening it's all a learning experience for me. I also don't follow rules very well so I tend to just go for it. Believe me if I had sun all year round in my garden I would figure out a way to grow tomatoes in the dead of winter. Not that we have much of a winter in the Bay Area. I just bought the columnar apples this year. I should see fruit in two to three years if all goes well.

EG - I know! I can't wait to start harvesting.

Granny - I just love you! I think we had the last of our rain yesterday so I will be setting up the patio furniture this weekend. I can't wait to sit outside with my glass of wine after a long day at the office. I love this time of year!

  5. Lookin' very good, gf. You've got a really great start. Hope it all grows well...

  6. hey liisa! i just LOVE your garden. we used to have a little bunny like yours when i was a kid. so cute. =)

  7. sb - Thanks! Me too :-)

Kelli! - Thanks... I like it too ;-)
